Doubles Team Falls in Central Region Final

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – In the doubles final of the Wilson/ITA Central Region Championships, Colin Mascall and Blake Strode lost to  Federico Chavaria and Andrei Daescu of Oklahoma, 8-6. The Razorback duo was the top seeded team, but fell just short of getting the tournament win.

Razorback Duo To Play for Doubles Title

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas netters Colin Mascall and Blake Strode will play for the doubles title Sunday at the Wilson/ITA Central Region Championships in Tulsa, Okla. It will be the duo’s second final appearance in three tournaments played during the fall season.

34 in a Row, Hogs Win SEC Cross Country Championships

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Damp and chilly weather in Lexington didn’t slow the Hogs down as John McDonnell’s team took the 2007 SEC Cross Country title at Kentucky Horse Park on Saturday. The Hogs won Arkansas’ 34th-consecutive cross country conference title and its 17th-consecutive SEC cross country title.

      FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – A three-point bucket by head coach John Pelphrey, along with a pair of 20-point outings by Darian Townes and Sonny Weems, wasn’t enough for the White team to overcome a more balanced attack by the Red in Arkansas’ annual team scrimmage on Friday.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Two Arkansas doubles teams occupy half of the final four spots in the doubles competition at the Wilson/ITA Central Region Championships in Tulsa, Okla. The top-seeded team of Colin Mascall and Blake Strode and the duo of Dmitry Lebedev and Chris Nott advanced to the semifinal round after two wins Friday. Strode is also still alive in singles play and has reached the quarterfinals.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Second-seed Blake Strode and freshman Chris Nott earned spots in the round of 16 at the Wilson/ITA Central Region Championships. The two Razorbacks each won two matches Thursday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Tulsa. Three UA doubles teams also advanced.

Beverley Named to Naismith Trophy Pre-Season Watch List

          ATLANTA  – A day after being named to the pre-season top 50 watch list for the John R. Wooden Award, which goes to the national basketball player of the year, Arkansas sophomore guard Patrick Beverley has been named to the pre-season watch list for the 2007-08 Naismith Trophy presented by AT&T, the Atlanta Tipoff Club has announced.
