Track Hogs Conclude Events at Junior Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Razorback track and field has concluded competition at the USA Junior Championships at Ohio State's Jesse Owen Memorial Stadium.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas freshman Luke Laird won the javelin throw at the USA Junior Championships in Columbus, Ohio on Friday. Two Razorbacks also qualified for the finals in their events.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Razorback track and field will be represented by five student-athletes at the 2008 USA Junior Championships, held at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, on the campus of Ohio State University. The meet will take place June 20-22.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – For the second time in his Razorback career, Andrew Landry was named to the PING honorable mention All-American team as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Landry becomes the eighth two-time All-American in Arkansas golf history, and the first since Craig Lile was honored in 2000 and 2001.

DES MOINES, Iowa – Nkosinza Balumbu earned a bronze finished for Arkansas Razorback track and field on day four of the NCAA Championships. Arkansas finished 17th in the team standings with 18 points.

DES MOINES, Iowa – Spencer McCorkel in the pole vault and Peter Kosgei in the 3,000-meter steeplechase both earned All-America honors and Nkosinza Balumbu advanced to the finals for Arkansas Razorback track and field on day three of the NCAA Championships at Drake Stadium.

Cliff Springston was one of three Razorback baseball players drafted on the second day of the 2008 Major League Baseball draft on Friday afternoon, taken in the 11th round by the Texas Rangers.

University of Arkansas junior Logan Forsythe was the 46th overall pick in the 2008 Major League Baseball First-Year Player's Draft on Thursday afternoon by the San Diego Padres. Forsythe was joined by three Razorback recruits selected on the first day.
