     FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Razorbacks began practice for the 2007-08 season on Friday. Head coach John Pelphrey met with the media on Thursday to discuss the first few workouts. Following is a partial transcript of his press conference. 

Hogs Stay Focused on Preparation for Ole Miss

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorback football team continued its preparation for Saturday’s conference game with the Rebels of Ole Miss with a 90-minute practice Wednesday. Head coach Houston Nutt was again pleased with the Hogs’ focus during the workout.

Turner Captures First Career Title, UA Finishes Third

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Razorback golfer Jason Turner fired a two-over-par 215 at the three-day Oklahoma Intercollegiate to win the event Tuesday and claim Arkansas’ first individual title since 2005. Turner and teammate David Lingmerth led Arkansas to a third-place finish in the team standings, the Razorbacks’ fourth top-four result in as many events this season.

Arkansas Has the Right Attitude During Tuesday Practice

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorback football team completed its Tuesday workout in what head coach Houston Nutt called a good day of focus and practice. Nutt was pleased with the effort of his players and thought it was the right start for game-week preparations.

Turner Tied for Lead Heading Into Final Round

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Junior Jason Turner used an even-par 71 Monday to climb from third place into a tie for the individual lead at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate, while Arkansas sits in fifth position in the team standings. Tuesday’s final round is set to begin for the Razorbacks at 11:30 a.m. CT at the Oak Tree Golf Club in Edmond, Okla.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s golf team teed off at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate and finished Sunday’s first round in third place in the team standings. The Razorbacks shot a 21-over-par 305 on a windy day at the Oak Tree Golf Club in Edmond, Okla.

Smith and Sosebee Win Doubles Title in South Carolina

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – At the Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, S.C., Razorback netters Connor Smith and Drew Sosebee won the B-2 section doubles title with an 8-5 victory over Omar El Bouskouri and Joseph Withers from Coastal Carolina. Playing together for the first time, the duo won four matches over the three-day tournament.

UA Doubles Teams Advance to Finals

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Blake Strode and Colin Mascall advanced to the finals of the doubles competition at the Midland Invitational. The Razorback duo will be looking to capture the tournament’s doubles title for the second consecutive year. At the South Carolina Invitational, Connor Smith and Drew Sosebee will play for the doubles title of the B-2 flight.

Auburn Defeats Hogs With Late Field Goal, 9-7

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Freshman Wes Byrum accounted for all nine points for No. 22 Auburn and his field goal with 21 seconds left in the game sealed the victory for the Tigers over Arkansas, 9-7. Casey Dick’s desperation pass on the last play of the game was intercepted by Jerraud Powers.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s golf team will take part in the Oklahoma Intercollegiate beginning Sunday morning. The event will play out on the par-71, 7,417-yard course at the Oak Tree Golf Club in Edmond, Okla.
